Safe to Bank Check v1.0 (website edition) - Adkins Technologies (safetobank.com)
================================================================================
A free one-minute check to run before you do online banking or shopping.
For Windows 10 and Windows 11.

HOW TO RUN IT
  1. Extract the zip (right-click SafeToBankCheck.zip > Extract All > Extract).
  2. Open the SafeToBankCheck folder. Right-click SafeToBankCheck.ps1 and
     choose "Run with PowerShell".
  3. Wait about a minute. Read the results, then follow the "NEXT STEP" line.

If Windows says the file is blocked or "not commonly downloaded": right-click
the zip file (before extracting) or SafeToBankCheck.ps1, choose Properties,
tick "Unblock" at the bottom, and click OK. Then try again.
If PowerShell asks whether you want to run the script, type R (or Y) and
press Enter.

Advanced: you can also run it from a PowerShell window:
  powershell -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\SafeToBankCheck.ps1
(add -NoBrowser to skip opening the report page, or -NoPause for RMM use)

SEE YOUR RESULTS AS A BIG, EASY-TO-READ REPORT
At the end, the check saves a small results file on your Desktop:
  SafeToBank-Results.json
(a dated copy is also kept next to the log in C:\ProgramData\AdkinsTech\Logs)
It then opens https://safetobank.com/report in your web browser.
Drag SafeToBank-Results.json onto that page, or click "Choose my results file".
The page reads the file inside your own browser. Nothing is uploaded.
You can also drop the "-Report.txt" file from the Logs folder onto the page.

The results file holds the answer, the date and time, the computer name,
the Windows version, and each check's result. Public internet addresses,
e-mail addresses, and user folder names are hidden in it. You can delete it
any time.

WHAT IT CHECKS
It checks 12 things:
  1. Antivirus is on and up to date (Microsoft Defender, or your other antivirus)
  2. Windows Firewall is on
  3. Windows Update has run recently, and no restart is waiting
  4. Your "hosts" file is not sending bank or common websites to a fake address
  5. Your DNS servers (the internet "phone book") look normal
  6. No unexpected proxy is routing your web traffic
  7. No remote-control program (AnyDesk, TeamViewer, and others) is running right now
  8. Which websites are allowed to pop up notifications in Edge and Chrome,
     and which extensions you have
  9. Any viruses Defender found in the last 14 days
 10. Secure Boot and the TPM security chip (information only)
 11. You are not on open Wi-Fi with no password
 12. SmartScreen (Windows' bad-download and bad-site warning) is not turned off

At the end you get one of three answers:
  SAFE TO BANK (green)
  CHECK THE WARNINGS ABOVE (yellow)
DO NOT BANK ON THIS PC UNTIL THE RED ITEMS ARE FIXED (red)

IMPORTANT: if the check says a remote-control program is RUNNING and someone
on the phone (claiming to be your bank, Microsoft, or "tech support") asked you
to install it, HANG UP and close it now. Real banks never ask you to do this.

This check finds common problems, but no check can promise a PC is free of all
malware.

READ-ONLY - NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PC
The check only looks. It does not change settings, install anything, or delete,
move, or upload any of your files. The script makes no internet connections.
(At the end it asks your web browser to open safetobank.com/report; the page
does not receive your results unless you drop the file on it, and even then
the file is only read inside your browser.)
Each run saves a log, a short report, and a results file in
C:\ProgramData\AdkinsTech\Logs (or your TEMP folder), plus
SafeToBank-Results.json on your Desktop. These stay on your PC. You can
delete them any time.

You do not need to be an administrator. A few items (Secure Boot, TPM, full
virus history) show "needs admin" unless you run PowerShell as administrator.
That is normal and not a problem.

WHAT THE COLORS MEAN
  GREEN PASS All good
YELLOW WARNING Worth a look; follow the one-line tip shown
RED FAIL Fix this before banking
  GRAY INFO Just information
CYAN === Title === Section headings

A yellow "could not check" line means that item could not be read on your PC.
It does not mean something is wrong.
